My first Olympic Event in London
Last monday I assisted at my first Olympic event of my life and then at those Olympics in London. I had a pair of tickets for Boxing at the Excel, only preliminary fights with 2 categories, the flies (-52kg) and the heavy-lights (-81kg).
It was the first time I saw boxing in real, and my knowledge about the sport is very limited, I mean I only know boxing through the Rocky’s saga… It’s quite impressive, the boxers in the fly category are obviously flying on the ring and the heaviest are more into the power of their fists.
My only little deception was about the atmosphere. Used to rugby and football games where the atmosphere is intense, in the boxing arena it was very quiet, and you were not even allowed to stand-up! Obviously few peeps from Ghana and Kazakhstan were warming up the arena, but it wasn’t the big fest.
Otherwise, it was a brilliant experience, and the organisation was very good, good point to the LOCOG for that. I mean everybody was predecting a nightmare but everything was very smooth.
Next Olympics event for me next week with mens basketball quarter-final and mens handball semi-final. Can’t wait, it’s going to be huuuuge! All these photos are mine by the way.
